Era più che doveroso per me scrivere una lettera personale in un momento simile. Forse alcuni di voi avranno già avuto modo di leggerla su Facebook, ma su consiglio del nostro admin Daniele, le dedico uno spazio a parte anche sulla nostra community. Sono dei pensieri che ho scritto durante l'arco della giornata.
Riflettere...Non so esattamente cosa scrivere... Forse è solo un incubo, ma pian piano il dolore cresce ed è difficile metabolizzare il fatto che devi per forza fartene una ragione. Non ho mai avuto la possibilità di conoscerti di persona, purtroppo non ho mai avuto modo di vederti suonare dal vivo, ma tu sei sempre stato lì. Appena aperte le pagine di quel vecchio libro sui Deep Purple anni fa, è stato subito chiaro che saresti diventato il mio idolo dopo poche righe di lettura. Sei sempre stato lì ad insegnarmi come suonare, sei stato il mio vero Maestro. Nessuno mi ha mai motivato, come tu hai fatto, a mettere sempre più passione per ogni nota suonata. Ho sofferto tantissimo quando ho saputo della malattia, ma dopo qualche mese tutto sembrava finito, o almeno quasi finito. Dopo tutto, la vera Bestia eri tu. Ma nonostante ciò, dopo quell'episodio, ho dovuto rendermi conto che comunque, prima o poi, questo momento sarebbe arrivato. Ma non così presto. Ogni tuo minimo gesto, ogni tua singola parola mi ha sempre lasciato senza fiato; e in un certo senso, sei riuscito a lasciarmi senza fiato anche con la notizia della tua morte. Addio caro Jon, ora sei davvero una leggenda. Non smetterò mai di sentirti suonare da lassù.
Eppure io un pò ci speravo nella reunion, ma un altro sogno se ne va...
Permettetemi di dire una cosa. Non condivido i pareri di chi dice che sarebbe meglio rimanere in silenzio su questi social networks. Personalmente non ho mai visto così tanta mobilità per Jon, sia da parte dei contatti personali, che dai profili di noti musicisti e personaggi famosi. In un momento così triste, questo mi da grande gioia. Per dirla alla Glenn Hughes, "We are a Big Family!". Grazie di cuore a tutti gli amici porpora!

Ricordo ancora la pelle d'oca sulle braccia quando per la prima volta ascoltai gli accordi di Might Just Take Your Life. Quell' Hammond C3 così saturo e il Leslie 147 ricco di crunch. Ancora non sapevo molto della sua carriera e della sua maestria, ma caspita! Sono bastati quattro accordi per capire quanto fosse immenso il suo genio. Ricordo quando per la prima volta (ora sia il VHS, che il DVD si sono consumati!) guardai il video di Burn al California Jam. Non solo l'arte e la tecnica, ma anche il modo di buttarsi su quel C3. Semplicemente mozzafiato... E' proprio vero... Come ha detto Slash in questa occasione, "He was one of a kind".
17 Luglio 2012, un risveglio piuttosto amaro oggi. L'avevo detto che sarebbe stato difficile prender sonno stanotte dopo un colpo così basso. Eppure mi sembra che lui sia ancora più presente, è una sensazione veramente strana. Alcune date del nuovo tour, quello che avrebbe dovuto celebrare il ritorno sulle scene dopo le intense cure, erano state annullate già da qualche giorno. Qualche settimana fa il noto chitarrista Joe Bonamassa ha anche pubblicato un video girato durante le sessions del nuovo Concerto For Group And Orchestra, che uscirà a Settembre. Sembrava tutto regolare. E invece, semplicemente, non voleva far preoccupare i suoi fans. I veri gentlemen non muoiono mai...
Ascolto i tributi dedicati al magico Jon alla radio. I Deep Purple non andavano in onda così spesso nell'arco di 24 ore da tanto tempo. E' davvero emozionante ascoltare in diretta i brani tratti dal Concerto, da Burn, da Stormbringer.. Grazie per aver lasciato tutti questi innumerevoli capolavori; se non fosse stato così, ora saremmo davvero persi!
Navigando sul web, non sono riuscito a tenere il conto di tutti i siti internet e le testate giornalistiche che hanno dedicato almeno un articolo al grande Jon. C'è chi ne ha dedicati addirittura tre per testata, chi ha organizzato delle photo gallery e chi ha pubblicato delle playlist. Spero tu possa vedere tutto questo da lassù.
